"Ohia + Lehua" and "Aloha Aina" Tee Designs
Town & Country Surf Apparel
Working in the Waialua Sugar Mill has brought me countless creative opportunities since moving to Hawaii. One of the incredible faces I’ve met is Gavin Hicks of Town and Country, T&C’s colorist for years. His coloring room is right upstairs at Third Stone so I’ve been seeing him at the shop since working there. He introduced me to Linda and Craig Sugihara, the owners of Town and Country, and we got to brainstorming on some designs for the apparel department.
I made two designs which are currently in production , a feminine-esque Shaka with a Put KeniKeni in its hand with the text “Aloha Aina” or “Love of the Land” and a Hawaiian honeycreeper / ohia lehua inspired tee with the Town and Country yin yang worked in. I loved making these designs as they are reflective of Hawaii’s culture of being so connected to the land and its people. I look forward to seeing the final products and more designs for T&C on the way.
